Trump pushes infrastructure plan as Russian Federation probe heats up”

"I urge the administration, through the EO, to seize this opportunity to ensure that all federally funded infrastructure projects use materials produced in the United States". It has proposed paying for the improvements with $200 billion in tax breaks over nine years.

"We are the nation that created the Panama Canal, the Transcontinental Railroad, the Interstate Highway System", said Trump, as an oversized American flag flew from an Ingram Barge Co. towboat behind him.

Shortly after landing in Cincinnati, Ohio, Donald Trump made a quick presentation on the importance of replacing Obama's Affordable Care Act.

In the speech, the president also pressed the Senate to send him a health care bill, criticized congressional Democrats as "obstructionists" and revisited his controversial decision to pull the USA out of the Paris climate agreement.

Those opposed to Trump's plan argue that privatization at this level would sell out America and allow companies to exploit public assets like roads and bridges. "It's only going to be Republicans or bust".

The White House did not provide details on the waterways plan, but spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said Monday that the president would "speak about his wide-ranging vision for rebuilding our country".

President Donald Trump is defending his tweeting habit despite complaints from some Republicans that the president's practice can be a distraction.

"The Republicans are working very very hard on getting a great health-care plan", he added. He spoke about backing large transformative projects but did not give specifics.

That's the word from Republican Rep.

Earlier this year, Trump announced plans to spend $1 trillion to pay for projects to fix aging bridges, roads and waterways. But shortly after 9 a.m., the White House issued a new schedule that indicated, just like the first two days of "infrastructure week", there were other things on Trump's mind.

The cumulative effect of Trump's daily stomping on his own aide's plans and statements means a week that White House officials intended as the start of the president fulfilling his campaign pledge to rebuild the country's roads, ports, bridges and airports will be remembered for anything but.

In his remarks, President Trump specifically called for upgrading the nation's aging system of locks and dams-making him the first modern president to focus on this critical piece of the infrastructure puzzle.

The speech came a day before former FBI Director James Comey's testimony to Congress Thursday and as the White House faces new allegations about possible efforts by the president to influence the investigation into potential ties between his campaign and Russian Federation.

The White House's self-proclaimed "Infrastructure Week" began with Trump appearing June 5 with aviation officials and some prominent GOP lawmakers to announce plans to privatize the nation's air traffic control system and separate operations from the Federal Aviation Administration.
