UPS says San Francisco shooter was an employee”

Three people have been killed and two more were injured after a shooting at a UPS facility in San Francisco Wednesday morning, according to police. At least four employees were shot and at least one was taken to a hospital, Gaut said.

- San Francisco police are asking people to avoid the area of 17th and Vermont due to an active shooter.

The gun violence there erupted hours after another, unrelated mass shooting at a charity baseball practice in the suburbs of the nation's capital left a congressman and several others wounded before the assailant was killed by police. "I feel bad for the people hurt and for the UPS team that was there but survived". Authorities say they will hold a briefing soon. Officers then confronted the suspect, "who was still armed with an assault weapon".

UPS has confirmed that the shooter was an employee.

In a statement, UPS said local law enforcement had control of the facility and that the company was cooperating with the investigation.

A witness tells NBC News she was driving up Bryant Street with her husband when she saw dozens of UPS employees running in the opposite direction.

Antonio Salic told CNN he was working in a house across from the UPS building when he heard shots fired. ABC7 News coverage of multiple shooting at UPS facility in SFA source says this was a single shooter who went into the building during a morning meeting. They walked away calmly with emergency vehicles nearby. The incident led to rapid action by the police and the locals were asked to avoid the crime area.

"Hayward Cook, who described himself as a UPS human resources manager, said he was interviewing people in a conference room when he heard five gunshots".

San Francisco police confirm a shooting at a sprawling UPS warehouse and customer service center, but no information on injuries has been released.

Police are now conducting a search of the building, they said.
