Lyon in 'advanced talks' to sign Chelsea Burkinabe forward Traore”

'We want to bring Bertrand Traore to the club, ' said Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas.

The Ligue 1 side and Chelsea are still finalising the transfer but it could be completed before the weekend is out. He will likely join the Les Gones on loan and as a direct replacement for Alexandre Lacazette, who is widely expected to leave France in the summer.

However, such rumours have seemingly been quashed this evening, with news breaking that Chelsea and Lyon have agreed on a deal that will take the youngster to the French top flight next season. That's my hope [to be at Chelsea next season].

Traore has scored a total of four goals from 16 outings for Chelsea, with his last appearance coming in May 2016.

However the Italian shipped him off to the Eredivisie, a move that in hindsight, now seems like the right one.

Despite Diego Costa's expected exit from Chelsea after his breakdown with his manager, it's still hard to see Antonio Conte putting his faith in the younger players at the club immediately, with Tammy Abraham arguably in the same position.

Traore's potential switch to Lyon has raised further question marks about the future of France global Alexandre Lacazette, who has been linked with an exit for some time now. Therefore, it is unlikely that Chelsea will finalise the move and make it official without securing proper replacements first.
