Donald Trump blasts obstruction of justice probe reports as 'phony'”

The Justice Department's investigation into Russian involvement in the 2016 election is looking at Kushner's multiple roles in the Trump administration, including the Trump campaign's 2016 data analytics operation; his relationship with former national security adviser Michael Flynn; and Kushner's own contacts with Russians, according to USA officials briefed on the probe.

Trump kept up his criticism of the investigations, writing on Twitter: "After 7 months of investigations & committee hearings about my 'collusion with the Russians, ' nobody has been able to show any proof".

"Americans should be skeptical about anonymous allegations".

The probe Mueller "marks a major turning point in the almost year-old FBI investigation, which until recently focused on Russian meddling during the presidential campaign and on whether there was any coordination between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin", The Washington Post reported yesterday.

A spokesman for the Justice Department did not respond to an email request for clarification and comment Friday morning.

Trump has called The Washington Post report a "phony story" and a "WITCH HUNT".

Mueller is also probing whether Trump himself obstructed justice when he fired former FBI Director James Comey on May 9, according to the Washington Post.

The memo sent Thursday asks for records related to foreign travel, contacts with Russian "officials, agents or nationals" and background investigations into the top Trump associates now targeted by Mueller's probe. "Nice." And then: "You are witnessing the single greatest WITCH HUNT in American political history - led by some very bad and conflicted people!"

Boente, however, was nominated by former President Barack Obama and his United States attorney's office has already been leading parts of the federal investigation.

Beyond Mueller's investigation, the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday announced it would pursue investigations into any efforts to influence the FBI's work on the Russian Federation matter and the events leading up to fired FBI Director James Comey.

Trump "believes that he has the power to fire anyone in government he chooses and for any reason", said Representative Adam Schiff, whose committee is also investigating Russia-Trump ties.

"A.G. Lynch made law enforcement decisions for political purposes.gave Hillary Clinton a free pass and protection".

She also echoed the concern that the president will try to fire Mueller and Rosenstein. Trump, who expressed displeasure with Sessions' withdrawal from the case, wouldn't hesitate to apply pressure.

Mr. Comey told Congress last week that before being sacked, Mr. Trump pressured him to drop an investigation into his former national security adviser, Mike Flynn, who was forced to quit for lying about his links to Moscow. If they find none, I'm certain Mueller will forthrightly report that fact - but only after completing a proper investigation, which takes time.

Comey told a Senate panel last week he believed Trump fired him because of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Russian Federation probe. Last month, news surfaced that Kushner may have discussed creating a secret communications channel between the Trump transition team and the Kremlin with Kislyak. Although Trump is a known mercenary who won't hesitate to stab allies in the back when it suits him, he won't let go of his loyalty to Flynn. Trump's longtime personal lawyer and business associate, Michael Cohen, has been asked to testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee in September. "As the deputy attorney general has said numerous times, if there comes a point when he needs to recuse, he will".
