Update 5.05pm: German police have released three British men without charge after their conversations forced a London-bound Easyjet flight to be diverted to Cologne.

Air traffic at the Berlin airport was interrupted between 7:00 pm and 10:00 pm with 10 flights diverted and 20 departures delayed.

Gilles said the remaining passengers, several of whom were slightly injured during the plane's evacuation, would likely be flown to London later Sunday.

The situation began when a female passenger overheard a conversation between the men on the flight Saturday, police said.

Whatever they said anxious at least one passenger listening in, who informed the flight crew of what authorities would later describe as a possible "terrorist conversation".

"The two men were questioned outside separately, then handcuffed and taken away and police wanted us off the plane quickly, so we had to use emergency slides".

Passengers tweeted that they had returned to the United Kingdom on Sunday afternoon.

EasyJet said passengers received hotel vouchers and meals during their stay, and thanked them for their understanding.

The 151 passengers flown safely the Easy Jet Airbus 319 using emergency exits, with police forces conducting security checks on the aircraft and collecting deposits from passengers, the airport authorities said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the entire flight crew and another 17 passengers were questioned in a police station.
