Turkey's Erdogan condemns Qatar blockade 'death sentence'

Turkey's Erdogan condemns Qatar blockade 'death sentence'”

The Qatar Airways will have to make 60 sorties to help chairman of Power International Holding Moutaz Al Khayyat's ambitious plan to become a reality, Bloomberg reported.

Saudi Arabia and Bahrain also reiterated their commitment to Qatar's ban on landing at its airports or crossing its sovereign airspace.

The Turkish president has vowed to keep supporting Qatar and has said the dispute should be resolved before the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

Saudi news agencies said the talks were concerned with "bilateral relations and counter terrorism efforts", but Russia's state-run Tass news agency said Putin and King Salman discussed tensions around Qatar.

Striking a careful balance, Erdogan stopped short of directly criticizing Saudi Arabia's actions but called on Saudi King Salman to show leadership by solving the crisis.

Saudi Arabia has closed Qatar's sole land border and joined other countries in cutting off sea traffic, leading panicked residents to stockpile food.

"To isolate a country's population in every respect is inhumane", the Turkish leader told his ruling Justice and Development Party in a weekly Parliamentary address in Ankara on Tuesday.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday denounced the isolation of Qatar as "inhumane and against Islamic values", and said the methods used against the Gulf state were unacceptable, and analogous to a "death penalty".

The president called upon Saudi Arabia to solve the crisis as the leading country involved in the spat.

Yemen, the Maldives, Mauritius, Mauritania and the eastern-based government in divided Libya also announced a break in relations with Doha, while Jordan and Djibouti said they would lower the level of diplomatic contacts with Qatar.

Qatar Ports Management Company (Mwani Qatar) has launched new direct shipping services to Oman's Sohar Port, in a bid to avoid the recent blockade imposed on the country by other Gulf nations. However, after Qatar was ostracised by the Gulf nations, the things have changed.

The gas-rich peninsula, which is connected to Saudi Arabia, denies it has been aiding groups like Islamic State.
