Elon Musk had a 'promising' conversation about tunnels with Los Angeles mayor”

Despite already having his hands full with running both Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk announced towards the end of past year that he was going to make it a trifecta of companies with the addition of The Boring Company.

Last month, reports of red tapes for Musk's vision for the Boring Company came out after city managers spoke out on the project.

He's referring to Musk's newly formed Boring Company, which aims to "solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic" with an innovative approach to building tunnels.

From there, the trolley carrying the vehicle will enter the tunnels and travel to their destination at speeds of up to 200kph.

Gaining support of leading political figures, especially from Los Angeles city Mayor Eric Garcetti, would set a high water mark for the upstart company and stimulate laggard cities that might not otherwise be as supportive of the proposed underground transportation network.

No specific were offered, but, speaking to the complexity of public works projects, Musk says that permits for a hypothetical project would be harder to grasp than the technology. He also indicated that the tunnel could carry bicyclists and pedestrians to their respective destinations, though it's not clear whether there would be a separate mechanism for this type of travel.

The Boring Company is building its own tunneling machine that Musk has said is more powerful than other machines in use today by "a factor of four or five".

ABC 7 reporter Adrienne Alpert hinted that there 'could be an express train to Union Station to [Los Angeles International Airport]' after a talk with Mayor of Los Angeles Eric Garcetti.

"Full length of first tunnel will run from LAX to Culver City, Santa Monica, Westwood and Sherman Oaks".
