London mosque attack "clearly" aimed at Muslims

London mosque attack

People were filmed screaming expletives and "killer" repeatedly at the van driver as he was held down in the chaotic situation.

Osborne has been arrested on suspicion of terror offenses in the collision with pedestrians outside the Muslim Welfare House, Metropolitan Police said.

Locals pounced on the driver and two or three men pinned him down, then others waded in, trying to punch and kick him.

The suspect was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure and would be undergoing a mental health assessment. Police said all the casualties were Muslims.

In a statement, the director of the Brussels-based European Network Against Racism (ENAR) strongly condemned the attack that killed at least one and injured 10 others outside a north London mosque early Monday.

"We have made available £2.5m", she told Sky News.

May paid tribute to the "extraordinary" people of London.

Prime Minister Theresa May was last night holding a special cabinet security Cobra meeting, the third in less than a month after the Manchester bombing on May 22 and the London Bridge attacks.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "We continue to review security across London, with a focus on all places of worship including mosques and Muslim community centres".

"All good people must stand together and join in rejecting hatred and violence from wherever it comes. That is the only way", he continued.

"There has been an outpouring of sympathy for all for the recent terror attacks but hardly a whisper on this attack", he said. This attack was civilians on the Muslims.

The attack was being treated as terrorism, he confirmed.

Mrs May said there had been "far too much tolerance of extremism" - including Islamophobia - and that the Government was determined to stamp it out.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has described the attack on a group of worshippers near a mosque in his own constituency as "terror on the streets".

The London Bridge attack was on June 3. Innocent people have lost their lives while just going about their business.

"He's a killer. he killed a lot of people".

New York Post reports that authorities are treating the attack as terrorism, although they are "keeping an open mind". Many worshippers were in the vicinity of the mosque at the time of the incident. "We will make sure that we do all we can to reduce these sort of attacks".

"While this appears to be an attack on a particular community, like the bad attacks in Manchester, Westminster and London Bridge it is also an assault on all our shared values of tolerance, freedom and respect", he added.

South Wales Police are working with their counterparts in the Met to investigate the Finsbury Park attack after it emerged the van driven at pedestrians was hired in the village of Pontyclun.
