China was scheduled to host a preseason National Football League game in 2007 to kick off the one-year countdown to the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, but the game between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks was postponed and ultimately canceled. For years, there have been reports about a planned preseason National Football League game that will be played in China, but those plans have yet to come to fruition.

Five-time Super Bowl victor Tom Brady hopes to one day play an American football game in China, he said on Sunday, on a visit aimed at promoting the sport in a huge potential market.

With his career coming closer to a close, Brady wants a chance to play that game finally.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady spent his Father's Day in a weird spot, hanging out at the Great Wall of China and throwing passes along one of the Great Wonders of the World.

"We had an opportunity, I think, 10 years ago and my team was going to play here", Brady said.

Brady is headed to Shanghai on Tuesday and will visit Tokyo on Wednesday, according to ESPN.

"I am excited about the opportunity to be able to connect with the people in China and Japan, experience the incredible culture and share my love for the game with my fans", he said.

Before heading down to Shanghai, apparently to tour the scenic Under Armor store here.

The Patriots will open up their season on Thursday, Sept. 7 when they host the Kansas City Chiefs at 8:30 p.m. ET.
