Vegas fight is 'ridiculous', says Lewis

Vegas fight is 'ridiculous', says Lewis”

UFC president Dana White can't be sure what will happen when Conor McGregor meets Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match on August 26, but he has an idea of the reaction will be depending on the outcome.

Lewis is referring to the fact that McGregor is a mixed martial arts fighter rather than a boxer. "You are talking about one discipline where you can use only your hands and only a few can do it", he said.

"They are two totally different sports".

The T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, where the fight takes place at the end of the summer, have also began to process of clearing their own stock of tickets. "I wouldn't buy it, but I would be interested in the result", said the former undisputed heavyweight champion. "Mayweather is the best in his weight class; no one can touch him in boxing".

"Floyd will stop him".

McGregor, the lightweight UFC Champion, will fight under boxing rules, despite never having had an officially sanctioned bout under those rules.

"I don't know what the outcome or the answer is when this thing's over, but what the hell, we're going to give it a shot and see what happens".

The Nevada State Athletic Commission have given their blessing to the contest being record as a 50th win for Mayweather, although McGregor will be banking on sealing the biggest upset the sport has ever witnessed.

"I don't believe it would damage boxing".

Mayweather-McGregor have yet to get together face-to-face since the announcement but they are expected to announce a promotional tour that will take them to a couple of major United States cities.
