Australian couple almost threw away $700000 winning lottery ticket”

The couple almost threw away the ticket they had purchased at Albany Lottery News and Gifts in May before deciding to double check the results and discovering they had one the Division One prize.

The family had checked the wrong week's winning numbers and incorrectly believed they had a dud ticket before the last minute check.

The husband said he was ready to throw the ticket out but thankfully his wife made a decision to double check the numbers.

After winning claiming their winnings the family, who describe themselves as "battlers", are looking to purchase a home.

'Let's face it, we're not getting any younger, ' the husband said.

Lotterywest spokeswoman Pina Compagnone said Lotto luck had well and truly taken up residence in regional Western Australia with Albany, Geraldton, Australind, Busselton and now Northam all producing Division 1 wins.

An Albany family were ready to throw out their Lotto ticket, when they discovered they'd won nearly $700,000.

A $14.25 million jackpot-winning ticket for the Lotto Texas has been sold, the Texas Lottery Commission announced Monday.
