Two people were rescued and rushed to a hospital in critical condition Tuesday after they were involved in an accident at a Queens construction site, FDNY officials said.

The collapse took place about 3:40 p.m.at a construction site at 31-25 28th Rd. near 33rd St.in Astoria, officials said.

. A second person was also transported to Elmhurst Hospital with critical injuries.

NY 1 reported that one of the workers was removed and said to be in critical condition following the crash. The ground floor of the building appeared to be covered in heavy debris - bricks, concrete, boards and other objects. Crews were loading materials from a boom truck to the roof when the block was dropped, going through the roof, according to an FDNY spokeswoman. A large hole could be seen in the roof of the building. It is reportedly a two-story building that has been permitted to add a third story.
