Family Declines Autopsy for US Student Released by North Korea

Family Declines Autopsy for US Student Released by North Korea”

North Korea said last month that it was its sovereign right to "ruthlessly punish" USA citizens it had detained for crimes against the state.

North Korea should be condemned by every nation in the world that cares about human rights.

His parents told The Associated Press in a statement the day of his release that they wanted "the world to know how we and our son have been brutalized and terrorized by the pariah regime " and expressed relief he had been returned to "finally be with people who love him".

Mattis was speaking after high-level security talks Wednesday with China in which North Korea was a key topic of discussion.

Trump's tweet on China's failure to contain the reclusive state is said to have puzzled his own aides.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in says North Korea must bear "heavy responsibility" for the death of a 22-year-old US college student it detained for almost a year and a half.

"Because of these actions by the North Koreans, Otto is dead", Portman said.

The paper added that the United States has "absurd" expectations for Beijing to solve the issues on the Korean Peninsula and overestimates China's influence on Pyongyang.

The US has been urging China to prod North Korea to give up its nuclear and missile weapons programmes, but in vain.

The family of a United States student who died shortly after being freed from North Korea have declined a post-mortem examination, according to a U.S. coroner.

Warmbier died in OH on Monday, days after being released by North Korea.

President Donald Trump has been counting on China to use its economic leverage with North Korea's totalitarian government. The North Korean government has vowed to develop a nuclear-tipped intercontinental missile capable of hitting the USA mainland. It has repeatedly conducted missiles tests since then and has vowed to develop a nuclear missile capable of striking the US mainland.

During the news conference, Mattis said the American people are growing more and more frustrated with North Korea's repeated missile launches.

On the question of the South China Sea, "our understanding of the problem is very different from theirs", Mattis acknowledged.

"It's unsafe", Corker said, adding that the "trumped up charges" like those Warmbier was accused of "can continue to happen".

Tensions between the United States and North Korea have been heightened by dozens of North Korean missile launches and two nuclear bomb tests since a year ago in defiance of U.N. Security Council resolutions.
