Jimmy Kimmel Blasts Mitch McConnell's Super-Secret Guys-Only Trumpcare Cabal

Protesters with ADAPT, a grassroots activist organization that advocates for people with disabilities and the elderly, stormed Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's office on Thursday to rebuke the Senate Republicans' draft of its measure to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.

The protesters, some of them in wheelchairs, had planned to stage a "die-in" protest to oppose the bill.

Tense situation outside McConnell's Russell office as protesters gather. Some made their way inside the office, lifting themselves out of their chairs to lie across the Senator's floor.

"Sixty people in wheelchairs are pretty noticeable", he said. "McConnell said he would have women but they can't keep a secret so they're not allowed in the room", Kimmel joked, before saying "it's hard to believe this is actually happening and not a plot from a movie".

One protester in a wheelchair wearing a breathing apparatus wore a blanket that said "Medicaid" and "life and liberty 4 disabled Americans". When the protestors did not comply, officers began wheeling them out of the area. Another walked out of the officer with her hands tied behind her back, followed closely by an officer.

The Capitol Police did not immediately return a request for comment from USA TODAY about the number of arrests at the protest.
