And you thought Republicans' health care bill couldn't get worse

Warren insisted that Senate Republicans, in drafting the bill, had been "dreaming up even meaner ways to kick dirt in the face of the American people".

U.S. Sen. Ed Markey, D-Massachusetts, and Congressman Richard Neal, D-Springfield, also spoke out against Senate Republicans' health care proposal. People will die. Let's be very clear: "Senate Republicans are paying for tax cuts for the wealthy with American lives". "And this plan, heartless plan will deny people that ability", said Wasserman Schultz while on CNN.

Both bills would repeal the penalties associated with the individual mandate that almost everyone purchase health insurance or else pay a fine, and the mandate that employers provide insurance to employees.

But some Republican senators, as well as all the Senate's Democrats, have complained about McConnell's proposal, the secrecy with which he drafted it and the speed with which he'd like to whisk it to passage. According to the former Head of State, he expects senators to wonder themselves what will happen to U.S. citizens´ addition to Opioids and who suddenly lose their cover, or to pregnant women, disabled children or poor adults.

Four key Senate Republicans announced their opposition just hours after the GOP's latest effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act was released. States can not opt out.

It uses a budget gimmick to comply with Senate rules against adding to the federal government's long-term debt.

"The Senate is trying to say that people with pre-existing conditions are protected, but lifetime and annual caps will again be allowed, meaning people with cancer might not get their chemo or a premature baby could run out of benefits before she leaves the hospital", Unterman said. Their preference is to eliminate the federally subsidized insurance exchanges and its expansion of Medicaid but a move to far to the right risks losing more moderate Republicans. It would provide flat age-based tax credits for the purchase of private health insurance ranging from $2,000 to $4,000 per year that would be capped at upper-income levels.

In short, the Senate version still plans to phase out Planned Parenthood funding for one year.

According to The Atlantic analysis, the new law will also increase costs on currency hedging and will be less "comprehensive" for low-income, sick and older people. Trump has been threatening to discontinue those payments, and some insurance companies have cited uncertainty over those funds as reasons why they are abandoning some markets and boosting premiums.

A vote on the measure is expected next week.
