Australia to resume air strikes in Syria after Russia threat

In the latest escalation between the US and the forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar Assad, a U.S. F-15 fighter jet shot down an Iranian drone over southern Syria on Tuesday.

A US warplane destroyed an armed Syrian drone after American forces said it "displayed hostile intent and advanced on coalition forces", the USA military said.

A USA jet has shot down an Iranian-made drone operated by forces backing the Syrian government in the south of the country, American officials say.

Iranian-backed pro-Syrian regime forces are pushing forward on a number of fronts, and the United States is equally eager to resist what it sees as a widening of Iranian influence.

The move comes days after a USA fighter jet shot down a Syrian jet, and Syrian ally Russian Federation responded by threatening to treat planes from a us -led coalition operating in the skies over Syria as targets. The Russian military department also ceased to cooperate with the United States in the framework of the memorandum on the prevention of incidents in the sky over Syria.

"And we have to understand what we're getting involved in, right".

There is a de-confliction mechanism in place with Russian forces to reduce uncertainty in this highly contested space and reduce chances of strategic miscalculation. "The Americans are fully aware of our position and we say that such actions are absolutely unacceptable".

The U.S. end of the line, located at the air command operations center in Qatar, remains open, Davis said, adding that the U.S. remains committed to using it.

"This is a risk that I am sure other countries participating in the worldwide coalition share".

The move also comes just days after the U.S.

There are concerns that further confrontations could lead to a breakout of hostilities that would hinder the battle against IS.

"Any flying objects, including planes and drones of the global coalition, discovered west of the Euphrates River will be tracked as aerial targets by Russia's air defences on and above ground", said Russia's defence ministry. Russian Federation is also the main ally of the Syrian regime and has significant military assets inside the country.

Earlier this month, the U.S. "That would be another mistake on the scope of the Iraq War". The US jet followed up with an AIM-120 medium-range air-to-air missile which struck its target, US officials told CNN.

Some Trump appointees saw Iran's missile strike as an illustration of Tehran's regional ambitions, which they have argued make it an existential enemy, according to the three USA officials. The Bahraini cleric wrote religious justifications for the enslavement of hundreds of women from Iraq's Yazidi minority and helped establish the IS branch in Libya.

This month, pro-Assad Shiite militiamen fired on American troops in Syria for the first time.

Tanf has been used by Western special forces as well as Syrian rebel forces. The truce was meant to be extended but now appears to have collapsed.

The spokesman said that the movement is now focused on liberating Syria from terrorists rather than fighting against Damascus.

It described Binali as "a close confidant" of IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, and said he "had a central role in recruiting foreign terrorist fighters and provoking terrorist attacks around the world".
