Senate health care bill unveiled: Here's how it would affect you”

Those subsidies are expected to be linked to recipients' income in the Senate bill, a "major improvement" from a measure approved last month by the U.S. House of Representatives that tied them exclusively to age, Republican Senator Susan Collins of ME said.

I have action steps you can take at the bottom of this story.

The Senate's Better Care Reconciliation Act would eventually make deeper cuts to the Medicaid program for the poor.

Republicans hold only 52 seats in the Senate. Which is a huge difference.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, followed by Majority Whip John Cornyn, leaves a Republican meeting on health care on Thursday. Obamacare now lets insurers charge older people only three times more.

"I think the bill can be made better and all four of us are saying that we can vote for it, but there has to be a negotiation now", Paul told reporters.

Mr. Trump on Thursday night tweeted that he is "very supportive" of the Senate's health care proposal, introduced Thursday morning as a "draft discussion". Far from it. But it's a provision that hits home with everyone in America over the age of 50.

Former president Barack Obama on Thursday slammed the GOP effort to replace his signature health care law and urged his former constituents to contact their members of Congress to defeat the bill. This bill does the opposite. Republicans say it costs too much and involves the federal government too much in healthcare.

According to The Atlantic analysis, the new law will also increase costs on currency hedging and will be less "comprehensive" for low-income, sick and older people. "It hands enormous tax cuts to the rich and to the drug and insurance industries, paid for by cutting health care for everybody else", he wrote.

This isn't about helping people anyone but their donors.

Not only did the suggestion irk Republicans because of its implication of callousness, but Trump's suggestion would also put the bill at risk of violating Senate rules.

With the election of Donald Trump, AMERICAblog's independent journalism and activism is more needed than ever.
