BJP Chief Amit Shah's remarks on Gandhiji

BJP Chief Amit Shah's remarks on Gandhiji”

"Rather than fighting casteism, they (BJP) identified even the Father of the Nation with his caste". Isliye hi kaha tha Mahatma Gandhi ne, kyunki Congress ki koi ideology hi nahi thi, siddhanto ke aadhar par bani hui party hi nahi thi.

"His comments show his mentality", Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said.

Shah said Gandhi knew the weakness of the Congress party and thus suggested its dissolution after the country gained independence.

Shah added that the Congress party did not follow any ideology or principle and was, in a way, a "special objective vehicle" to secure freedom.

Surjewala said Shah had insulted the sacrifices made during the freedom struggle by associating Mahatma Gandhi with a business model. "But in reality, before Independence, the British used RSS and Hindu Mahasabha as a SPV for the country's partition". "With his statement against Gandhi, Amit Shah has demeaned the image of the country and the BJP, which he heads".

The Congress demanded an apology from Mr Shah for the disparaging way in which he had spoken of Mahatma Gandhi. He added that Amith Shah has insulted the nation by insulting the "Father of the Nation".

Naik said more than a decade before BJP President Amit Shah called Gandhi a "chatur baniya" on Friday (June 9), Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had cancelled the Gandhi Jayanti holiday during his first stint as Chief Minister. He didn't do it, but some people are now completing the job of dissolving it. Chhattisgarh Congress general secretary Shailesh Nitin Trivedi said: "Such a comment on the father of the nation is highly condemnable". "There was a time when people were looking for an alternative, wondering if the multi-party democratic system built by our constitution makers had failed?" he said.

Shah had set off on an all-India tour on April 29 with an aim to strengthen the party-base ahead of the next Lok Sabha elections.

"There are some parties where only dynastic rule prevails". Shah has indulged in a heinous crime and an anti-national act.
