National Basketball Association draft eyes zero in on Celtics, Josh Jackson

National Basketball Association draft eyes zero in on Celtics, Josh Jackson”

They have been high on Tatum throughout the draft process, and brought him in for a private workout late last week. We expect most - if not all - to become National Basketball Association stars, but each top pick is different.

Duke's Jayson Tatum answers questions during an interview after being selected by the Boston Celtics as the third pick overall during the NBA basketball draft, Thursday, June 22, 2017, in NY.

Tatum was fantastic for Duke in his lone season with the Blue Devils, averaging 16.8 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. But Jackson has not worked out with the team. "I'm going to take this opportunity and run with it". "It's going to allow me to play with those guys and just learn". "And those teams who didn't draft me, one day they will be sorry".

The selection comes after the Celtics traded the top pick to Philadelphia earlier in the week for the No. 3 pick, plus a first-rounder in either 2018 or 2019.

I always say [how I play] is not a surprise to me; it's a surprise to everybody else.

It was the second straight year the Celtics have chosen third overall. In the one-and-done era - the ACC had five of them: Duke's Jayson Tatum, Florida State's Jonathan Isaac, N.C. State's Dennis Smith Jr., UNC's Tony Bradley and Duke's Harry Giles - those guys did it the old-fashioned way on a night for old-fashioned ACC schools.

He turned out to be correct.

SMU's Semi Ojeleye among three second-round picks for Celtics: Ojeleye, a Duke transfer, has exceptional jumping ability - his 40.5-inch vertical jump ranked fifth at the NBA Draft combine. "No one in our organization did", Ainge said, as reported by ESPN.com. "They're a great team, they were the No. 1 seed in the East a year ago, and I just think with so many great veterans and great players like Isaiah Thomas and Al Horford, [Jae] Crowder, [Avery] Bradley, there's so much I can learn from those guys".

The Rockets are targeting the biggest names in this year's free agent class. Chris Paul is expected to be leaving the Los Angeles Clippers, while his teammate Blake Griffin's situation is not as clear, but there is some speculation that he is interested in the Boston Celtics after complimenting the city and following Isaiah Thomas in Instagram.

But it was far from the first time Ainge has received an outrageous demand for his assets from the 2013 Nets deal, including a Chicago demand past year for the 2017 and 2018 Nets picks in addition to two players for Butler.

Boston Celtics co-owner Stephen Pagliuca speaks to fans during the team's NBA basketball draft party at TD Garden, Thursday, June 22, 2017, in Boston. Tatum's more of a pure scorer, and should be a big part of the Celtics' offense right away; Jackson is a shutdown defender.
