New Microsoft console is the Xbox One X

Last year, when Spencer teased the Xbox One X, then known as Project Scorpio, he said that the next Microsoft console would "deliver true 4K gaming and high-fidelity VR".

"I look at Pro as more of a competitor to S than I do to Xbox One X", he explained.

Most people, but not Xbox boss Phil Spencer.

If you have a loft full of old Xbox games you might want to dust them off.

But it seems even the cost of the Xbox One X that has everyone gawking isn't even breaking even for Microsoft.

Check out more information on the all new Xbox One X on their website here.

At $500, Microsoft's new Xbox One X console is pricey for a game machine.

The $499 price of the Xbox One X makes it the most expensive current-generation console in the market, with some gamers claiming that the price is too steep. Barring Forza Motorsport 7, there were no big AAA games from the company to prop up the Xbox One X at launch.

"So I think we've got work to go do there, but I think it's in our future". That being said, quantifying how much more capable a console should be for that $100 premium is basically impossible.

But if you can get past the straight-up comparison with the PlayStation 4 Pro and other consoles and look at the Xbox One X from some different perspectives, it actually looks like a good deal. Microsoft couldn't call it Xbox One Elite because it already has a version of the original Xbox One with that branding, and the Xbox One S is the existing console so it couldn't use "S" alone. "We showed 42 games, 22 with console exclusivity that's going to play across the whole Xbox One line". "I would make more of a comparison to the PC space in terms of capabilities", he says.

Sure, you'll be able to play original Xbox games on Xbox One soon, but don't expect the library available to be as extensive as Xbox 360's.
