Saw: Legacy has been retitled Jigsaw

Lionsgate had always stressed that "Saw: Legacy" was a working title and that eventually the movie's genuine name would be revealed and that has now been confirmed (via Bloody Disgusting) as Jigsaw.

Neither Costas Mandylor nor Cary Elwes (aka Jigsaw's main dudes), are expected to return for the new film.

Due to arrive in cinemas on October 27th Stateside (and United Kingdom cinemas a week earlier on October 20th), just in time for Halloween, the film revolves around various dead bodies that begin to turn up all over the city, each meeting their demise in a variety of grisly ways. But how can this be?

The latest movie in the hugely successful Saw series has a new title. In Saw V and Saw 3D, we learned more about the character's backstory through a series of flashbacks. Saw 3D was meant to be two movies, but Lionsgate only allowed the filmmakers to make one more film after Saw VI under-performed at the box office. Perhaps creating more questions than answers.

The producers of the Saw franchise are hacking away at their legacy. I always found something fun about the seasonal serialized event even if numerous films were not great.

I don't even know why they're bringing this franchise back. The movie is scheduled to be released, as is customary, during the Halloween season on October 27th of this year. The new cast includes Mandela Van Peebles, Hannah Anderson, Laura Vandervoort, Brittany Allen, Callum Keith Rennie, and Matt Passmore. The story will reportedly take place ten years after the demise of the original Jigsaw - when a new spree of similar murders begins - and on scripting duties are Peter Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg.
