Spain's Alvaro Arbeloa retires after career with Liverpool, Real, West Ham”

The former Real Madrid defender spent last season at West Ham, having moved to the Premier League club on a free transfer, but he's now chose to call it a day.

"It's time to say goodbye", he said. "Physically I was ok to keep playing", he was quoted as saying by Marca.

Arbeloa spent the majority of his career at Liverpool and Real Madrid, with 95 appearances being made at the Premier League club between 2007 and 2009.

The former Spain global was a part of his country's FIFA World Cup winning squad in 2010.

He made 56 appearances for Spain from 2009 to 2013.

Prior to Arbeloa's time at the Santiago Bernabeu, he made nearly 100 appearances for Liverpool between 2006 and 2009.

The Spain worldwide won the 2010 Fifa World Cup and two European Championships in 56 appearances for his country.

Arbeloa also played for Deportivo La Coruna and Liverpool, scoring two goals in 69 appearances for the latter, but finished his career at West Ham, for whom he played four games.

He also spoke in favour of the Real Madrid President, Florentino Perez.
