Here are our Vegas Golden Knights projected rosters”

All of these players are unprotected for the expansion draft.

Vegas Golden Knights general manager George McPhee had difficulty containing his excitement in anticipation of the NHLs expansion draft list being released.

The Golden Knights now have until Wednesday at 10 a.m. ET to select their team from the lists of available players.

The price to make a deal is high.

The Anaheim Ducks are also a strong candidate to pull the trigger on a deal after failing to protect Vatanen and Manson - two coveted defensemen they'd love to retain. They can also select a pending free agent from any team in place of an unprotected player, although they'd then corner themselves into contract negotiations.

"The last 24 hours have been similar to the last three to four days in that we are having discussions with clubs about what they want to do and how they can protect their rosters if they want to do that", McPhee said.

"The players Vegas drafts, not all of them are going to play for Vegas".

“The most fun Ive ever had in hockey, ” McPhee said in a video posted of him driving to the teams headquarters on Sunday. We have to establish the value for that, and whatever you want to give us has to be better than what we can claim from that club ... The inaugural roster will be revealed during Wednesday night's NHL Awards show inside T-Mobile Arena just off the Strip.

The Golden Knights must choose 30 players, one from each team.

The moves should add to the draft pick and prospect stockpile for the Golden Knights, who already have the No. 6 overall pick in this year's entry draft. If I were a betting man, I would say either Kruger or Pokka but you never know what will happen.

He holds the cards for a significant chunk of the league's talent, fielding calls from fellow general managers willing to trade something to keep McPhee from plucking certain players from their rosters, or to take someone from another team to flip in a deal. As theres a number of top defensemen exposed such as Anaheims Sami Vatanen and Ottawas Marc Methot.

McPhee told reporters Sunday that "there were no surprises" when the Golden Knights received the lists and that he was "really pleased with what's available".

Now that teams are aware of the $2 million bump, it could effect what deals they end up making with Vegas - or anyone else. He's got one year left on his deal with a modest $1 million U.S. cap hit.

The Red Wings elected to expose goalie Petr Mrazek in the expansion draft, protecting an older and more expensive goalie in Jimmy Howard. But most of all, with the skating game so important I wanted players with speed. Once the dust settles from the draft weekend, teams will prepare for the start of the annual unrestricted free agent market on July 1.

The Winnipeg Jets solved an expansion issue even as they didn't make a trade as Toby Enstrom agreed to waive his no-movement clause before the deadline Friday, allowing them to protect their other three top defensemen: Dustin Byfuglien, Jacob Trouba and Tyler Myers.

If you were McPhee, what would be your 30 choices during the expansion draft in Las Vegas on Wednesday evening?
