John Oliver's Message to Anti-Vaxxers, Slow-Vaxxers: "Memes Are Not Science"

Although John Oliver briefly addressed the lawsuit he's facing from a coal mining CEO over his coal segment last week, he spent the majority of yesterday's Last Week Tonight episode on vaccines and the almost eradicated diseases that have made a return because of anti-vaxxers.

"But despite their success, small groups are both skeptical and vocal about vaccines, which is nothing new", he continued.

John Oliver may have found the one thing more risky than activists who oppose vaccinations.

"Vaccines are one of humanity's most incredible accomplishments". Should you eat the placenta?

John Oliver and his HBO talk show "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver" are the subject of a lawsuit regarding the episode he ran last week on the coal industry and supremely litigious Murray Energy CEO Robert Murray.

"The only thing Minnesota should have more of than any other state is Garrisons Keillor and people disappointed by the Mall of America", Oliver said.

"He also noted that 93% of pediatricians have been asked to spread out vaccines, despite the fact that the Center for Disease Control says spacing out vaccines puts children at risk for catching diseases, like measles, which according to Oliver, is "'Happy' by Pharrell infectious".

There was a time, Oliver explained, when people waited in line (like people do now for iPhones) to get a polio vaccine. Plus, while kids are getting more shots these days, those shots have fewer antigens and far fewer antigens than kids are exposed to on a daily basis, because as Oliver notes, "Children are f--ing disgusting". Oliver said that his child was born prematurely, but despite that, he plans to fully vaccinate his kid on schedule. "And if I can resist the temptation to listen to the irrational shouting of my terrified lizard brain, then I believe that everyone can".
