Microsoft Modern Keyboard puts Fingerprint ID front and centre

Microsoft Modern Keyboard puts Fingerprint ID front and centre”

The keyboard is fully compatible with MacOS as well as the latest Android operating system. Microsoft will also let users choose between using the Modern Keyboard with wireless/ wired interface.

The Modern Keyboard will be available to purchase for $129.99 while the Modern Mouse is priced at $49.99.

Now onto the Modern Mouse.

Once configured, users just need to tap on the fingerprint scanner to unlock their device or login into a website. Microsoft does admit that this range will be shorter an an electrically-noisy environment like an office, and estimates a more realistic 23' (7 meters) under real-world conditions. This button blends perfectly with other keys on Modern Keyboard. It's interesting that the fingerprint scanner is underneath a key, although I wouldn't really call it hidden considering it looks like it has a fingerprint on it.

The keyboard comes with aluminium frame and Microsoft claims it sports "highest quality" and is "virtually indestructible". The only difference between the two is one major addition: a fingerprint sensor. The wired connector port is placed on the rear side of the keyboard.

Microsoft's new keyboard has the tech department rambling in noise as no one expected that a groundbreaking feature would hit the device. As expected, Windows 10 surface devices and newer generation Microsoft products work with the keyboard and mouse extremely well. What are your thoughts on the new Modern Keyboard from Microsoft? Dimensionally, the keyboard measures 420.9 x 112.6 x 19.3mm and weighs around 420 grams. That being said the Surface Keyboards still come stamped with the Surface branding.

Judging by the short accompanying video, the fingerprint id works in a subtle but intuitive way while adhering to the versatility of the keyboards wired/wireless design.
