Prince Philip Released From Hospital

Prince Philip Released From Hospital”

"I can confirm that the Duke of Edinburgh left hospital this morning", a Palace spokesman told CNN's Max Foster.

The 96-year-old's hospital admission meant that he missed the State Opening of Parliament, with Prince Charles taking his place at the Queen's side.

Queen 's husband Prince Philip was Thursday discharged from a hospital in London after being admitted as a "precautionary measure" for an infection arising from a pre-existing condition.

Prince Philip has been released from hospital after being admitted on Tuesday to receive treatment for an infection. "Her Majesty is being kept informed and will attend Royal Ascot as planned this afternoon".

He previously stated that he was "disappointed" to be missing the State Opening of Parliament on Wednesday and the continuation of the Royal Ascot.

Earlier this week, Prince Philip attended the Royal Ascot races with the Queen, 91, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and his great-grandchildren, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

The senior royal was described as being in "good spirits" during his stay.

The 96-year-old was said to be in "good spirits" after his two-night hospital stay. He may also occasionally attend other events.

Prince Philip announced in April that he had decided not to carry out any more public duties after August.

The queen missed a traditional Christmas church service a year ago for the first time in decades because of a heavy cold and was hospitalized in March 2013 with symptoms of gastroenteritis.
