Protesters urge 'no' vote on GOP health care bill, as details emerge

President Donald Trump confirmed Sunday that he had characterized the Senate's version of the Obamacare repeal bill as "mean", but gave no indication that will lessen his support of the legislation.

While discussing the Republican health bill during an interview that aired Sunday on Fox & Friends, Trump said it would be great if lawmakers from both parties could "come up something that everybody's happy with".

Trump's role is expected to become more pronounced in coming days as the vote nears. The Michigan Democrat believes the Senate bill would cut coverage while increasing costs. Where are we going to go when they close that?

But Majority Leader Mitch McConnell introduced this health care bill as a Republican promise to repeal Obamacare - finally kept.

Heller, who is up for reelection in 2018, has expressed concerns about the way the measure addresses the future of Medicaid.

That could add Heller's name to Trump's call list.

Groups representing doctors and hospitals are overwhelmingly opposed to the Republican approach, because it's likely to result in millions more uninsured people.

The Blue Cross Blue Shield Association represents plans that are the backbone of HealthCare.gov and state health insurance markets created under former President Barack Obama's law. "But the bottom line is that most people will pay more for less care". Rand Paul of Kentucky, Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, Ted Cruz of Texas and Mike Lee of Utah announced they could not support the bill as-is.

"It's not that they're opposed", he said. And they reduce the penalty from 20 percent to 10 percent - which was the pre-Obamacare levy - if funds from an HSA are used for non-medical purposes. "We'll have to see". "We have a few people that are I think, I could say modestly, they're not standing on the rooftops and screaming".

Some GOP senators are not so sure about that.

Realizing they're outnumbered, Democrats and their liberal allies were planning events around the USA over the next few days aimed at building public opposition to the bill. Jeff Flake's Phoenix office Friday, demanding that he vote against a Republican health care bill that new analyses claim could hit Arizona particularly hard.

While tax credits under the ACA were based on helping people afford a bad silver plan with large deductibles (roughly $3,500), the Senate plan will only help people afford a awful bronze plan with massive deductibles (roughly $6,000). A healthier population helps curb health care costs, so employers like myself can continue providing health benefits to our employees.

Call your senators and ask them to consider the impact of any new bill on the health of our people and our economy.

Democrats have formed a united front against the controversial measure that was drafted in secret, criticizing it as a "war on Medicaid", the health care program for lower income Americans, and calling it a worse plan than one that passed the House of Representatives in May. It pays almost the whole bill for the more than 700,000 primarily childless low-income working adults who joined Medicaid after January 1, 2015, when Pennsylvania expanded income eligibility guidelines to take advantage of the more generous federal contribution rate under Obama's law.
