Qatar Airways is 'world's best airline'

Qatar Airways is 'world's best airline'”

"At these hard times of illegal bans on flights out of my country by big bullies, this is an award not to me, not to my airline, but to my country", Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar al-Baker said at the Paris Air Show ceremony on Tuesday.

This year, in addition to taking the coveted second best ranking, SIA was also awarded Best Airline in Asia, Best Business Class Airline Seat, and Best Premium Economy Onboard Catering.

Qatar Airways has been named the best airline in the world for 2017 by the leading consumer aviation website Skytrax.

It was Qatar Airways' fourth win for best airline in the past 10 years after it secured the top spot in 2011, 2012, and 2015. The World Airline Awards are based on surveys filled out by millions of passengers.

The airline reclaimed its crown after finishing second a year ago to Dubai-based rival Emirates.

Since 2001, the award for "Airline of the Year" has bounced around frequently; only three times has the same airline won Skytrax's prestigious honor in back-to-back years. These countries have also either severely restricted Qatar Airways' access to or outright banned the airline from their airspace.

The guests can also seamlessly connect to any point in AirAsia's network with just one stop at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - Asia's low-priced carrier hub - or other transit hubs in Thailand and Indonesia using the Fly-Thru service. Turkish Airlines, however, lost its best airline in Europe title to Lufthansa after keeping it for six years.

Skytrax are specialist research and quality advisors to the air transport industry are focusing into evaluating airlines and airport of which it has programmes namely - the world airline awards (Skytrax World Airline Awards), the world airline audit, among others.
