Tommy Lee Jones to star with Brad Pitt in Ad Astra

Tommy Lee Jones to star with Brad Pitt in Ad Astra”

Brad Pitt and Tommy Lee Jones are planning to star together in James Gray's Ad Astra movie, a sci-fi epic that is set to go into production in September.

In Latin, "ad astra" means "to the stars", and that's exactly what Pitt will be doing in the film as he searches for his long-lost father. Roy embarks on a mission of his own through the solar system to find his father and understand why his mission failed.

It was announced in February that Pitt would star in the film.

James Gray (The Lost City of Z, The Yards) co-wrote and will direct the movie, which sounds a little like Heart of Darkness set in outer space.

In 2011, Gray was signed to direct a film adaptation of Mark Greaney's thriller novel The Gray Man, with Pitt attached to star. Pitt's Plan B is producing alongside Marc Butan of Mad River, Anthony Katagas of Keep Your Head Productions, Rodrigo Teixeira of RT Features and Gray himself.

Ad Astra will be Pitt and Gray's third collaboration.

Brad Pitt most recently headlined David Michôd's War Machine, released through Netflix.

Pitt's fellow Hollywood A-lister Tommy Lee Jones is in talks for the role of the missing father. Jones was last seen in 2016's Mechanic: Resurrection and is now filming Rob Reiner's Shock and Awe, about the lead-up to the 2003 American invasion of Iraq.
