Pregnant Serena Williams stars on the breathtaking new cover of 'Vanity Fair'”

For sports fans around the country and, indeed, the world, Serena Williams' pregnancy feels similar to Kate Middleton's royal pregnancy.

Serena Williams is now taking time out from tennis as she prepares for the birth of her first child.

Williams went on to win the Australian Open and did not drop a set. She added that her immediate reaction was, "Oh my God, this can't be - I've got to play a tournament".

The couple first met at a hotel in Rome, Italy, when Ohanian sat at a table nearby Williams at breakfast, which displeased the 35-year-old athlete.

"I was like, "Serena, you're 35, you're ready". It's like a joke.

Williams, who's due this fall, is now about six months into her pregnancy and still getting used to the idea of motherhood.

"It just doesn't seem real". "I don't know what to do with a baby. I've done absolutely nothing for the baby room".

The photos were taken by celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz, while the story chronicles her relationship with fiancée Alexis Ohanian, the co-founder of the website Reddit. "This is what you want", she says.

There's also an update on Williams's plan to return to competing on the women's circuit as soon as January 2018.
