SSP Chaman Sajid Khan Mohmand was killed in the blast which is said to be a sucide attack.

In the moments following the explosion, an emergency was declared in hospitals and law enforcement and rescue officials rushed to the site of the attack and cordoned off the area. Around 10-15 people were also injured in the blast, said reports.

A senior police officer was killed and 11 others, including policemen were injured in a blast in Chaman, Balochistan on Monday, local media reported.

Assistant Commissioner of Chaman confirmed that the blast was of suicide nature and District Police Officer Sajid Khan was the target.

The explosion occurred near DPO vehicle as a police convoy was passing through the area. Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan also condemned the attack and has sought a report from the relevant officials over the incident.

The injured, which mostly include police personnel, are being shifted to nearby civil hospital.

A Pakistani spokesman says a roadside bomb has struck a vehicle carrying a police chief in the southwestern town of Chaman near the Afghan border, killing him, his guard and a civilian.
