Swanigan impressive in Summer League debut

Swanigan impressive in Summer League debut”

The Boston Celtics defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 70-64 Sunday in their second game of the Las Vegas Summer League at Thomas & Mack Center. NBA TV will do the TV coverage while the game can be watched online live on FuboTV.

Another local product, Notre Dame's V.J. Beachem, was less impressive in his first game of the Summer League season with Minnesota.

The Celtics' 2016 first-round draft pick is one of the best dunkers in the league, and it sure would be exciting to see him compete in the Slam Dunk Contest at a future All-Star Weekend. Rebounding was the difference for the Trail Blazers, as they outrebounded the Jazz, 43-32.

Brown is now averaging 17.0 points and 10.5 rebounds for Boston's Summer League squad.

Jake Layman added 13 points, 5 rebounds while RJ Hunter made 12 points.

Jayson Tatum recorded 11 points and seven rebounds and Jaylen Brown finished with 13 points and eight rebounds for the Celtics. Both teams really struggled shooting, with Portland hitting 35 percent of their shots and Utah shooting just 31 percent from the field. Joel Bolomboy amassed six points and eight rebounds.
