Swimmer injured after shark attack in Miami”

According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue spokesperson Erika Benitez, lifeguards advised swimmers to get out of the water when they became aware of a shark lurking nearby.

Miami-Dade authorities were summoned to Haulover Beach after a suspected bull shark left a person on the beach wounded.

WPLG-TV reports that Lt. Felipe Lay of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue says the unidentified man was swimming Sunday afternoon off Haulover Beach when he was attacked.

The beachgoer was bitten on his legs by what was described as a 4 to 5-foot bull shark.

"Immediately, the lifeguards alerted people in the water by blowing their whistles, and gesturing for everyone to get out of the water".

No word on the man's condition but officials say his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

A day at the beach took a terrifying turn as a shark bit a man off Haulover Beach.

"Although these incidents are rare, we still ask beachgoers to always be aware of their surroundings", Sparling said.
