Toddler Siblings Dead From Possible Asthma Attacks In The Bronx

Toddler Siblings Dead From Possible Asthma Attacks In The Bronx”

Police say 2-year-old Olivia and 3-year-old Micha Gee were taken to the hospital, where they later died.

The mother, a nurse's practitioner, ran to her kids' bedroom, where Olivia was unresponsive and Micah was having trouble breathing.

The boyfriend and the mum called 911, and emergency crews then rushed the tots to Montefiore Medical Center.

At about 1:15 a.m., the boyfriend told the mother something was wrong with Olivia.

Police have provided little other details at this point, but say they are still investigating.

Steve Bornemann, 71, gasped when he heard that the brother and sister had died.

The medical examiner will conduct autopsies to determine how they died; it's not clear if investigators believed their asthma histories contributed to their deaths.

An autopsy on the child later determined that the girl died from severe trauma to her stomach, law-enforcement sources said.

The News said marks were observed on their necks, from broken blood vessels, which could have come from efforts to resuscitate them - or from something more sinister.

Police were suspicious, because the children were not fraternal twins, so it seemed unusual that they would die minutes apart from asthma attacks.
