Lalu, Rabri to board and alight like ordinary flyers at Patna airport”

Supporting the claim that the Centre targeting opposition in a political witch hunt, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has been withdrawn the VVIP privileges to two former Chief ministers Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi wife of Lalu Prasad at Patna airport. This time it has hit a former Bihar chief minister Lalu Yadav and scrapped a privilege that he has been enjoying till now.

The move comes after the Ministry of Civil Aviation wrote a letter to the BCAS informing that it had made a decision to revoke permission granted in 2009 allowing Lalu Yadav and his wife's vehicle to drive up to the tarmac.

The aviation ministry's order dated July 21, 2017, to the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has now withdrawn this special privilege.

No more VVIP treatment: Lalu and Rabri Yadav's direct access to Patna airport tarmac scrapped

RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and wife Rabri Devi.

While Rabri Devi has served as Chief Minister of Bihar, Lalu Yadav has served as Chief Minister of Bihar and Union Railway Minister. Chief ministers' vehicles are allowed tarmac access at airports in their state, especially in the state capital. This facility has been extended in the past to CMs in airports outside their states too for security or health reasons.

Earlier on Friday, the state-run Bharat Petroleum Corporation had sealed a petrol pump owned by Lalu's younger son Tej Pratap Yadav while accusing him of furnishing wrong information about land ownership.
