First LGBTQ fighting unit forms to combat ISIS in Syriaā€¯

The group announced the first LGBT brigade formed to combat Islamic State's (ISIS) jihadists.

A group of global volunteers are fighting with Kurdish forces against ISIS in northern Syria and are labeling themselves the first LGBT military unit.

The Queer Insurrection and Liberation Army is pushing back against these atrocities.

The Queer Insurrection and Liberation Army, or TQILA (pronounced "Tequila"), is now fighting alongside Kurdish forces in Syria, the group announced Monday, according to Newsweek. "These faggots kill fascists!"

"TQILA members have watched in horror as fascists and extremist forces around the world have attacked attacked the Queer community and murdered countless of our community members citing that they are "ill", "sick" and "unnatural".

In the background other soldiers hold the rainbow flag and a banner showing the group's logo - an AK47 on a pink background. "The image, which was reportedly taken in Raqqa, was released with the caption "#Queers smashing the caliphate".

It continued: 'The images of gay men being thrown off roofs and stoned to death by Deash [ISIS] was something we could not idly watch'.

TQILA also accuses Christian conservatives of attacking the LGBT community in its statement. We want to emphasize that queerphobia, homophobia and trans*phobia are not inherent to Islam or any other religion.

A statement posted by the group on Twitter said its members "seek to smash the gender binary and advance the women's revolution as well as the broader gender and sexual revolution".

The formation of TQILA comes after the rise in targeting of queer people by ISIS terrorist groups. Queer Liberation! Death to Rainbow Capitalism! A spokesperson for TQILA told the newspaper they could not reveal the information due to security reasons. This force is intent on liberating the east Syrian city of Raqqa where a Kurdish-Arab coalition of fighters (known as the Syrian Democratic Forces) has already wrestled control of about 25% of the city from Daesh/ISIS forces.

Over three years, dozens of LGBT people living under ISIS rule are believed to have been killed by ISIS fighters.

You have probably seen the videos, or read the news stories about ISIS and their violent ways of killing homosexuals, but now it appears that there is a queer militant group at the ready to fight back.
