Jaguars lock up Brandon Linder with five-year extension”

With just one day to go until the Jaguars report for training camp, the team chose to squeeze in one last contract extension, and it was a big one.

Jaguars OL Brandon Linder has signed a five-year contract extension to stay with the team through 2022, the club announced today.

With Jaguars veterans set to report to training camp on Wednesday, Linder said it was important to get the deal done as soon as possible.

"I just wanted to get it done before camp so we could just focus on football, focus on winning some football games here". "That's something that I wanted to do now". Per the Times-Union's game charting, Linder was booked for 10 1/ 2 quarterback sacks/pressures/hits, lowest among the Jaguars' regular starters, and 8 1/2 bad run plays, second-fewest among the regulars. "The steps that brought me here, starting in little league football, I was just reflecting on them". "It hasn't really hit me yet, but it's special".

Linder, the team's third-round selection (93rd overall) in 2014, has started all 31 games in which he's played. Dallas Cowboys center Travis Frederick previously held the title as the NFL's highest-paid center with an average annual value of $9.4 million.

Linder's deal was for a reported $51.7 million over five years with $24 million guaranteed.

Linder moved to center in 2016, where he shined as one of the best young players at the position.

Linder worked at right guard early in the off-season program before moving back to center.

"It means the world", Linder said. I fell in love with this city, and I think we have big things to come.
