Three Big, Big, Big US Apple Plants are on the Drawing Board

Three Big, Big, Big US Apple Plants are on the Drawing Board”

Apple Inc Chief Executive Tim Cook has committed to build three big manufacturing plants in the United States, the Wall Street Journal quoted U.S. President Donald Trump as saying.

"I spoke to (Cook), he's promised me three big plants-big, big, big", Trump told the Journal in an interview on Tuesday. Apple offered no comment. He did not provide details on the plant locations or build timing.

Apple declined to comment to the Wall Street Journal.

This isn't the first time that Trump has said he talked to Cook about a big manufacturing facility.

Apple has already said that it would start a $1 billion fund to promote advanced manufacturing jobs in the United States. But Cook has always been Apple's supply chain expert, even before rising to CEO, and has been slightly more amenable to US manufacturing than his predecessor.

Foxconn does have plans to choose a location for a USA plant soon, but that plant would make large-panel displays for televisions.
