Man Killed at Early Morning House Party in North Highlands

A man is dead and another is wounded after a shooting in North Highlands early Saturday morning.

The shooting happened just before 3 a.m. Saturday in the 7000 block of Plumer Way.

The identity of the 22-year-old victim has yet to be released.

Deputies said they were sent to the residence where the party was taking place after reports of gunfire were received.

Investigators are looking for witnesses to come forward, and with an estimated 200 to 300 people at the party, it's very likely someone saw something. However, partygoers told deputies that no gunshots were fired, but rather it was the sound of fireworks.

Following the incident, two men arrived at a nearby hospital with gunshot wounds, one shot in the arm and the other shot in the head. Deputies were unable to locate any victims.

After an investigation, detectives found out there were "several fights in the street" before the gunshots went off.

There are no suspects in custody and no suspect descriptions.

Those with information regarding the incident are encouraged to contact the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office.
