Did Mo Farah 'rob' Kenyans of victory in London?”

British distance running legend Sir Mo Farah was gearing up for the 2017 IAAF World Championships, in which he is widely expected to take gold.

Farah, who crossed the line in 26 minutes and 49.51 seconds, won his third consecutive 10,000m title at the World Championships on Friday night.

Farah played his tactics to perfection and survived a late stumble after clipping heels with one of his Kenyan competitors, even appearing to slow down intentionally near the finish in an effort to bait those around him.

Farah first hit the lead with about two laps to go and while challenged till the end, he had too much speed down the straight to hold off the valiant challengers and secure a 10th global title across the 5000m and 10,000m.

Competing in the 10,000m for the last time at the London Stadium - where he won a gold medal in the same event at the 2012 Olympics - Londoner Farah said he expected the event to be emotional.

Despite being clipped twice by eventual bronze medallist Paul Tanui of Kenya, Farah clung on and kicked hard to win in a time of 26:49.

Farah's focus now moves to the 5,000m heats on Wednesday ahead of next Saturday's final, his last global race before he switches to the marathon, and he is confident he will recover in time.

"It was one of the toughest races of my life". I just had to stay strong, believe in myself and think, "I didn't work for nothing, I'm not losing in my home town". The opening lap was not a problem - I thought I was going at 65 (seconds), but I saw it coming at 61 and it was fine. "I can't wait to get on that track - bring it on!"

The 16th edition of the Championships could not have been set up more ideally for Britain to celebrate a home triumph in the first medal event and Farah, as ever, did not disappoint his legion of fans.

The last time he was not in that position was at the 2011 world championships.
