Man Who Allegedly Threw Deadly Punch in St. Cloud Charged with Murder

If convicted of the murder charge, he faces a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison.

Travis Johnson, 21, punched 22-year-old Anthony Shriver of Waconia while walking home with a group of friends at about 2:30 a.m., according to a St. Cloud Police Department report. After Shriver passed away, he turned himself in and was eventually charged with one count of second-degree murder.

Police were called, the victim's friends provided a description of his assailant, Johnson was identified and detained by police. Shriver complained of having a headache but showed no other visible signs of injury after the early-morning confrontation. Johnson was arrested shortly thereafter, cited for assault and released. When they arrived, a man at the scene told police Shriver had been punched in the face and knocked unconscious. He said his head hurt. Surveillance footage showed Johnson struck Quinn from the side as Quinn walked away from Johnson. He enjoyed snowboarding, skateboarding, longboarding with his dog Lexi, and working on his Subaru.

An autopsy conducted by the Ramsey County medical examiner's office said Shriver died of "traumatic head injuries due to physical assault", the complaint states.

During a court appearance Tuesday a judge approved bail of $1 million without conditions, or $250,000 if he abstains from alcohol, agrees to stay in Minnesota without prior approval, and turns in his passport.

Tony was born on June 15, 1995 in St. Cloud, MN to Kevin Shriver and Roberta "Bobbi" Halverson.

The Shriver family has a GoFundMe page set up to help with funeral costs. He's next expected to appear in court August 21.
