Paula Creamer replaces injured Jessica Korda on Solheim Cup team

Paula Creamer replaces injured Jessica Korda on Solheim Cup team”

U.S. captain Juli Inkster was previously made aware of the situation and nominated a potential replacement when she announced her two wildcard picks on Sunday.

That decision now lies in the hands of captain Inkster, who the LPGA Tour has confirmed will reveal shortly as she is currently travelling. She made the winning putt for the Americans just two years ago, was the 2010 Women's US Open champion, and has been ranked as high as number two in the world.

Korda earned a spot on the team on points.

Creamer will be playing for the seventh time in the Solheim Cup, where she has a 14-8-5 record.

Creamer, 31, was initially left out of the 12-woman squad, with United States captain Juli Inkster instead selecting Austin Ernst and Angel Yin as wildcards.

"I've got a lot of faith and confidence in Paula", Inkster said in a teleconference. "She reminds me a lot of myself as far as heart and grit".

The Solheim Cup will be played at Moines Golf & Country Club in West Des Moines, Iowa starting on August 18. Live coverage begins on Thursday with the opening ceremony from 11pm.
