PM Modi on 75 years of Quit India Movement”

Various events were organised here on the anniversary of the Quit India movement, which has been one of the major milestones in the history of India's struggle for independence.

Without naming the BJP, Sonia vowed to continue fighting and said, "India can not be your prisoner".

She also said that during Freedom struggle, Pt Nehru spent several years in jail and many Congress men and women workers died in incarceration.

He was addressing the Lok Sabha on the 75th anniversary of the Quit India movement. "They supported Mahatma Gandhi during the movement", he said.

Union minister Ravishankar Prasad demanded Bose's remarks to be expunged.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday unveiled "Sankalp se Siddhi" which is a "new India movement" to create a nation of dreams by 2022.

"Many of the ideals have indeed been realised, even if not in full measure: a secular and democratic Constitution which guarantees Fundamental rights, Freedom of Speech and Expression, economic growth with equity and rule of law", it said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also expected to speak today. PM Modi then went on to term the month of August as a month of revolution as the non-cooperation movement was launched on August 1, 1920, the Quit-India movement on August 9, 1942 and on August 15, 1947 India became independent.

Attacking the BJP, Sonia had said political descendants of those who had collaborated with the colonial government were holding high office.

Addiding further Sonia Gandhi said that few organisations were against freedom of India.

"We remember the Quit India movement".

"Five years was all it took to achieve the objective of independence, once the entire country shared this common resolve", he said.

He said colonialism began in India and ended here too with India gaining independence.

The frienship has taken such a strong turn that Israel's elite sniffer and attack dogs have been deployed to beef up the security cover of the Indian prime minister, reported The Telegraph.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi says she is very happy with Ahmed Patel's victory.
