Indian wrestler Vishal Kumar Verma dies Of electrocution at Flooded Stadium”

Vishal was electrocuted when he was pumping out water that had collected near the state wrestling body office.

The wrestler was immediately rushed to the nearby Sadar hospital where he was declared dead.

Vishal, who started his wrestling career in 2005, came fourth in the last senior national wrestling championship. In fact, built not long ago in 1978, the stadium has been flooded since the beginning of the monsoon itself, and the condition just worsened in the past few days due to torrential rainfall.

Expressing shock over the incident, Jharkhand Wrestling Association president Bhola Singh has announced an interim relief of Rs 1 lakh to the deceased wrestler's family.

Bholanath Singh, secretary of the state wrestling outfit, said, "it is extremely unfortunate". Faulty wiring seems to be the main cause of this incident, said by Shyamanand Mandal, officer in-charge of Kotwali police station. The situation of the stadium is pathetic and the building is in ruins.

Verma was the only earning member of the family of six, including three sisters. The association will also give ₹ 10,000 every month to them till one of Kumar's four sisters finds a job. Reports on the Telegraph state that a loose wire was found hanging in the washroom, which could be the potential reason for the electrocution.

During the initial investigation into the incident, the Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam has claimed that there was no fault in the power connection installed in the stadium building.
