Florida senators weigh in on escalating tension with North Korea”

"I don't want to be alarmist: We're all going to die", Colbert continued, "because USA intelligence now believes North Korea is making missile-ready nuclear weapons".

Tonight: The frightening rhetoric between President Trump and North Korea has Stephen taking cover.

The host of "The Late Show" was referring to the burgeoning feud between President Donald Trump and North Korea's Kim Jong-un.

Colbert then broke down all the developments leading up to Trump's threat, including reports that North Korea was making missile-ready nuclear weapons. First, that the USA was not the only country behind the sanctions, although the North Koreans' fiery rhetoric continues to target them.

"What the president is doing is sending a strong message to North Korea in language Kim Jong-un would understand".

Second, the unusual relationship between the two countries shouldn't continue, of course, because the US just isn't really looking for anything serious at the moment. The United States, we sanction a lot of other countries. "You'll get us all killed and I just started 'The Handmaid's Tale'".

Colbert then played a montage of Trump saying numerous variations of the phrase "the likes of which this world has never seen before". "They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen".

The president has now gotten some support for his "Fire & Fury" threat against North Korea from some more moderate voices, including one-time opponent Senator Marco Rubio and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

Rubio was among many Republicans in the 2016 presidential primary and he and Trump had a heated and at times publicly contentious relationship past year.
