Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth attend DMK function”

Amid speculation over Tamil superstar Rajinikanth's foray into politics and his contemporary Kamal Haasan's frequent political statements against ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu, both actors today joined a political event hosted by Opposition DMK in Chennai.

Tamil super stars, Kamal Hassan and Rajinikanth, has attended the 75th-anniversary celebration of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on Thursday in Chennai. "What an opportunity you are going to fritter", Kamal Haasan said.

Rajinikanth who is known for his anti-AIADMK stance has recently hinted to join politics when he asked his fans to "prepare for war". I was wold he would come.

"Then I stood before a mirror and saw my image". I said I would also sit down.

Issuing a strong warning against those talking about the end of Dravidianism, he said that it would hang on till the word "Dravida" continued to exist in the national anthem. I asked if he would talk as well.

Haasan, who has of late been critical of the AIADMK government, was seated on the dais next to DMK working president MK Stalin. "I want to make a point to those who say that Dravidianism is confined to Tamil Nadu or southern parts. But Dravidam (Dravidian culture) would continue to exist till the word Dravida exists in the National Anthem".

He sounded hard in attacking the detractors of Dravidian ideology and affirmed that Dravidianism that was pushed from the Indus Valley civilisation is a pan-Indian movement.

Kamal further said he did not want to miss an opportunity to sit along with editors of various dailies and magazines and hence made a decision to accept to participate in Thursday's function. The function was also attended by the editors and journalists of various dailies, magazines and cine stars.
