Latest Fitbit smartwatch leak shows off design and new heart-rate tech”

Images of the upcoming Fitbit smartwatch recently leaked, showing off the gadget in all its glory. But, there are other details that Wareable has revealed. The images confirm the wearable will be available in various color options: a silver case with navy strap, a rose gold case with blue strap and a dark case with black strap.

The most important feature that has been revealed in the renders is a new sensor.

Furthermore, the button configuration seems to be similar to the Fitbit Blaze with two on the right and one on the left. This suggests that the smartwatch could also measure oxygen levels in the blood.

Instead of using the green optical sensors we've previously seen on Fitbit devices, the new smartwatch features red lights and an infra red sensor with a blue light. James Park, Fitbit's CEO, did state in an earnings call earlier this month that the upcoming device will feature Global Positioning System, water resistants up to 50 metres, and "multi-day battery life".

For the most part, these latest renders line up with ones that we saw a few months ago in regards to the overall design of Fitbit's smartwatch. Until now, Fitbit smartwatches came with connected Global Positioning System which meant that a runner or anyone who was performing a workout would need to carry along a smartphone with their wearable for Global Positioning System data. While Fitbit has declined to comment on watch specifics to Wareable, the site reports that it will include Global Positioning System and be waterproof to 50 meters.

In addition to this, we can also expect Fitbit's smartwatch to provide the standard affair of step-counting, sleep-tracking, on-screen workouts, notification support for your connected phone, and plenty more. Earlier wearables from the company haven't offered this feature.
