Liverpool say Coutinho staying amid interest from Barcelona”

Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group club in a statement said its "definitive stance" was that "no offers will be considered".

The Reds have already knocked back two offers from Barcelona for the 25-year-old, the first worth £72 million and the second around £90 million.

According to reports, Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho will not force through a move to Barcelona.

Liverpool said in a statement: "We wish to offer clarity as regards our position on a possible transfer of Philippe Coutinho".

Last we heard, Liverpool had knocked back a frankly exorbitant €100million bid from Barcelona to take Philippe Coutinho off their hands.

Coutinho's situation has dominated the lead-up to Liverpool's opening game at Vicarage Road, with Klopp consistently stating that the midfielder will remain at the club.

The Spanish club have plenty to spend after selling Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain for a world-record transfer fee of €222m. 'That is set in stone.

Klopp, speaking at a pre-match press conference ahead of Liverpool's Premier League opener at Watford on Saturday, again reiterated his stance but remained coy about his private talks with the Brazilian. So what they pay in the end doesn't matter.

"Our goal is to have the best possible team so we want to keep our guys and add new ones".

The Reds released a statement earlier today reiterating Coutinho will not be sold during this window.

Klopp will face a hard decision when naming his squad for the weekend as a number of other players will be sidelined with injury including Adam Lallana and Nathaniel Clyne out.
