Sanchez to miss start of season for Arsenal”

With Arsenal failing to qualify for this season's Champions League, Sanchez has been heavily linked with a move away from The Emirates Stadium although Wenger has repeatedly said this offseason that the Chile global is not for sale.

The Chilean global received extended leave, missing their pre-season tour of Australia and China due to worldwide duty for Chile which the South American side finish as runners-up to World Cup holders Germany.

Sanchez was in the stands for Arsenal's Community Shield shootout win over Chelsea on Sunday, having returned to London Colney to catch up on training.

Sanchez has an abdominal strain and Wenger says he is likely to be "out for a while", ruling him out for the first two games against Leicester City this Friday and Stoke next week. One or two weeks. "But he will not be available".

Wenger wouldn't say if any bids had come in for Sanchez.

Sanchez's initial return to training was delayed by three days as he had an illness but his extended absence from the team will only flame the fires of speculation over his future.

Arsene Wenger had labelled them a doubt during his pre-match press conference, but will be delighted to welcome the trio back which will provide him more options going into the game against the Foxes.

Wenger is keen for his team to make a strong start and banish memories of last season, when they lost their opening game 4-3 to Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium. I just think we are not open - what I said to you many times - to any offers, anyway.
