Arsenal rally late to defeat Leicester on opening night”

Substitute Oliver Giroud put the final touches on an enthralling comeback win for Arsenal as they beat Leicester City 4-3 on the opening evening of the new Premier League season.

Sanchez, who will miss Arsenal's opening Premier League match of the season against Leicester on Friday after suffering an abdominal strain in training, has been reportedly linked with a move away from the Emirates during the summer transfer window, with PSG and Manchester City potential suitors.

Arsenal netted two goals after the 80th minute to down Leicester City in a memorable season opener.

Jamie Vardy made it 2-1 with an easy tap in the 29th minute but Danny Welbeck restored parity for the Gunners just before half time.

ARSENAL'S ALEXANDRE LACAZETTE got his Premier League career off to the ideal start against Leicester at the Emirates this evening.

But Leicester is in a battle to hold onto their top stars just like Arsenal - Riyad Mahrez has been the subject of multiple bids this summer and could leave before the transfer window shuts.

The substitutions nearly paid off as Ramsey was so close to restoring parity for the Gunners with his first touch, heading wide Hector Bellerin's cross from the left flank in the 68th minute.

Wenger said he gave Giroud the option to leave for another club this summer in search of more regular playing time but was thrilled when the striker chose to stay.

The £52 million signing became the first Arsenal player to score on his Premier League debut since Thomas Vermaelen in 2009.

"We're gonna win the league!" sang the Leicester fans and they nearly had a third goal to cheer when Okazaki's header from Christian Fuchs's cross bounced just wide of Cech's left-hand post.

"I opened the door for him at some stage as it's important for him to play but I don't want him to go", Wenger said at the post-match news conference.

The Bosnian unselfishly squared to Welbeck to force the ball past Schmeichel for a much-needed league goal - having only scored two in an injury-hit 2016-17 season.

"I have players coming back who have not played, like Mustafi".

The lead lasted three minutes before Leicester's new signing Harry Maguire headed Marc Albrighton's cross from the left back into the middle and Shinji Okazaki nodded the ball past flailing Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech. Alexis will not be available for example, so I can not go into the game with too many uncertainties.

Jamie Vardy then capitalised on terrible defending to twice put the Foxes ahead either side of Danny Welbeck's equaliser before Arsene Wenger sent on the cavalry.
